The customer begins by inserting their card into the SmartVend Terminal. The dollar value remaining on the SmartCard will be displayed to the user.
The customer is then asked to key in their volume request in gallons or liters and to confirm their purchase.
SmartVend then performs error checks to ensure that the volume request does not exceed the dollar value of the card. In this case the user is prompted to key in a smaller volume.
When the solenoid opens for water delivery a pulse connection is established between the flow meter and the SmartVend Terminal. This allows the terminal to display the volume count directly in the terminal readout as the water flows through the meter.
Each time the customer stops the flow or when the requested volume is reached the terminal will deduct that amount from the SmartCard and instruct the user to remove their card.
The remaining card balance is then displayed to the customer prior to their removing it from the terminal.
If a customer terminates a transaction prior to reaching the keyed in volume, SmartVend will refund all remaining value back to the card. The customer is never charged for water that has not been taken.
To replenish the value on the SmartCard the customer simply takes their card to head office to purchase more water volume. Each SmartCard can be reused over and over again. |
